An institutional film produced with the European Union and several associations and organizations working in West Africa, in Mauritania. We recorded both versions, French and Arabic. The voice over had to hold two registers: storytelling at the start, then teaching sections full of figures.
One project, two languages, four versions. The PromoPêche film covers three years of work carried out in Mauritania. We recorded the voice over in French and in Arabic, with a 30-minute long version and a 3-minute short version for each language. The version shown here is the short cut.
Making institutional content easy to listen to. The film gathers a great deal of information, statistics and vocabulary that is at times technical. On the voice, all of it has to stay clear on first listen. So we work the articulation, the pace and the breaths to make the content reachable, without weighing down a narration that is already dense.
A voice that moves with the content. Some parts, the introduction among them, are narrative: the voice tells the story, sets the context and carries the images. Then other sections turn more didactic, with more figures and more explanation. Both actors walk a real tightrope: their performance moves with the content while keeping the whole in harmony.
